Summer and Christmas at the same time?

As I sit here, my students are taking their final exam and I'm almost ready to catch my plane tomorrow. Its going to be quite the shock to my system going from 25 degrees down to -8 with snow. The only time I've worn socks in the last 8 months is when I've been playing basketballs. I believe Dad is bringing me a parka and all that thermal equipment when he comes to pick me up at the airport.

It's going to be interesting... 27 hours to get to Ciudad de Mexico, then I'm only there for a day. But I'll be spending 3 or 4 days there on the way back. New Years in Mexico City! Another crazy New Years I can add to my colorful array of adventures that have taken place on that day.

I'm definitely looking forward to the snowboarding day! Who knows when the next time I'll get to go will be. Just outside of Tacna, they have desert hills where apparently they sandboard. I've been wanting to try that since I got here, but I just might need to make that a priority when I get back. Its going to be a busy "vacation" but I'm looking forward to it. I can only afford a one way ticket back to Tacna, so I'm definitely going to be here for a while after that.

I finished Xmas shopping today. It's not much, just little things from Peru. It just wasn't in the budget this year.

I'm SOOOOO looking forward to turkey and stuffing!!!! I missed out on 2 thanksgiving dinners and I have some eating to make up for.

Speaking of food.... sushi on the 27th! YUM YUM YUM Its' been way too long. If anyone wants to take me out or make me some curry while I'm there... PLEASE DO!! Another of my favorite foods I miss. Too bad I'm not flying in at lunchtime, I'd get dad to take me to the Indian place we used to go to for lunch all the time when I worked at Con-Space.

PS... so i'm an idiot! I just printed off my schedule to fly to Mexico and it leaves at 9.25 PM, not 9.25 AM!!! Seriously!!! So now I have a day to sleep and not be rushed in the morning. And now... I can play basketball with my friends in the afternoon.
Don't worry, Dad, I'm still coming in at 11.38 pm on Monday the 22nd. i thought i was getting in on the 23rd... too many things to keep track of....
