Daily Thunder Storms

We seem to be getting thunderstorms here every evening. It must be a seasonal thing. Right now its just going crazy out there! Sunday, Edgar and I were on our way to the tienges (street market) in San Juan and we turned around halfway there because it started raining. Its not like nice BC rain, its so polluted here that the rain is poison and you don't want to be caught out in it.
Yesterday morning was beautiful, except for the smog. Sometimes it seems cloudy, but there isn't a cloud in the sky. April and I did laundry on the roof yesterday. It's where we go to be outside because there's no yard here. My shoulders got super burnt. But that's what happens with me. It'll be a tan in a week or so.
Through the couchsurfing website I'm a member of, I met a local guy that asked me for some English lessons. I told him I'd exchange them for Spanish lessons. So we're going to meet on Friday. WooHoo! My first Mexican friend. He showed me this website for conjugating Spanish verbs, so I sat here today doing that for about 3 hours or so. Its great, because you just fill in the blanks and it tells you whether you got it right or not.
Josie appears healthy and strong. She seems to be getting stronger every day. Phoebe's a little crazy since Josie's arrived, but she's so smart! Today she pointed to a triangle and told me its name! How many kids under the age of 2 know what a triangle is?!?!
Tomorrow is when the local tienges is open, so we'll be going to that tomorrow. It will be the first time April goes with 2 girls without Edgar.
The tienges is fun. I can't wait till I know enough of the language to go on my own and not have April have to interpret for me.
I guess that's all for now... I'll add pitures soon, I promise.

1st Week May 8, 2008

Well, i´ve been here almost a week. The weather is excactly what i was created for. i absolutely love it! Its strange not being able to go out wherever i want whenever i want. Its not because of the language barrier... but because its not safe. This internet cafe is directly across the street and i was escorted here by Edgar. Crazy!
i got to go out a couple of times though. yesterday we went to the Tienges. Its the street market where they sell blackmarket and stolen stuff. Alot of the stuff is things they confiscate during searches at the airport. luckily enough i didnt´get searched, but i was definitely worried about that.
Josie is doing well and Phoebe is growing so much. Talking up a storm, she is!
i cant´ send pictures until i can use my laptop. which we´re working on today. so, there might be pics up by later this evening.
I´m picking up on the language and its not overly difficult, but i´m noticing that i´m mixing up some french words that have been archived in the back of my brain from elementary school.
well, thats all for now, since i dont have much time here at the cafe....
check in later and hope for pics.
later all..
